The past decade has seen a major shift in the reconstruction of bridges. Given the time constraints and traffic management necessities, Accelerated Bridge Construction (ABC) is fast becoming the norm for this type of construction especially in the congested areas.
Jersey Precast has been at the forefront of this technology and has already completed over 2,000,000 square feet of bridge deck replacement. We have successfully fabricated and delivered over 5,000 prefabricated bridge elements to some of the most significant structures in the NY metro area including Tappan Zee Bridge, Pulaski Skyway, RFK (formerly Triboro) Bridge and Brooklyn Bridge.
In 2011 FHWA and MassDOT launched a pilot project (Fast 14) to replace 14 bridges on I-93 in the Boston area. This fast paced project involved replacement of fourteen bridges over thirteen weekend closures. Jersey Precast was selected as the precast fabricator for the project and all bridges were completed on schedule.
Over the years, Jersey Precast has developed an in house team of engineers that understands the technical issues related to prefabricated bridge structures. These engineers study the geometry and configuration of the bridges and select the most appropriate production and casting techniques to ensure perfect fit up in the field. on an as needed basis, the pieces are match cast in the plant and / or actually fit together in a mock up to ensure perfect geometry control and alignment. Our in house expertise in 3D and BIM modeling further helpsus in ensuring a perfect final product.
